Kärcher opens new factory in Vietnam

"We see immense market potential for our products in Asia."

Kärcher has just opened a new cleaning equipment factory in Vietnam. It is the 19th plant worldwide for the German specialist in high pressure cleaning products. “We see immense market potential for our products in Asia”, Hartmut Jenner of Kärcher commented.

The new factory can be found on the Tam Hiep Port Logistics Industrial Park in Quang Nam province, which is located south of the city of Danang, website Vietnam Investment Review reports.

300 workers

The facility has a total investment of over VND500 billion ($19.7 million), which includes a 13,500-square metre factory and 1,600sq.m of office space. The factory will employ more than 300 local workers.

Quang Nam is a significant industrial province and manufacturing hub in central Vietnam, bordered by Danang city to the north and Quang Ngai province to the south, which houses Dung Quat Refinery, Vietnam’s first oil refinery with a capacity of 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil annually.

Following the inauguration and commencement of production in 2024, the factory’s output is expected to reach 500,000 products, increasing to 1.7 million products in 2025 and 2.5 million products in 2026.

Very fast

Hartmut Jenner, chairman of the Board of Directors of Kärcher Group, highlighted that the group has 19 factories and logistics centres worldwide, but none have been built and operationalised as swiftly as in Vietnam, with this project completed in just one year. “From planning to production, all our requirements were met promptly. Production lines were set up on time, and we received necessary certifications for timely investment progress”, says Jenner. “We see immense market potential for our products in Asia. We are seeking a location in Asia to boost production and enhance our long-term competitiveness,” Jenner continued.

Kärcher was founded in 1935 by the inventor Alfred Kärcher, who began manufacturing and marketing his pioneering product ideas in the field of heating technology. The cornerstone of developing into the world’s leading cleaning specialist was laid in 1950 with the invention of Europe’s first hot water pressure washer.

When Alfred Kärcher died in 1959, his wife Irene continued her husband’s life’s work until her own death in 1989. Kärcher has remained a family-owned company to this day, headquartered in Winnenden, Germany.
